Show Your Work
There are several ways that members can show their work, including the Theme of the Month presentation, signing up to present a slide show at a meeting, participating in one of several opportunities to hang work in the community, and by listing their website on the club's Member Photos page so that others can see their work on their individual websites.

Slide Shows
The purpose of the slide show presentation is to allow the photographer to show a body of work that is an example of their style of photography or of their preferred subject in photography or to show their best examples of the overall body of work they have created.
-
This creates an opportunity for a photographer to “get their work out there” and to get used to showing their work to others.
-
This also allows a photographer to play with new software, in this case slideshow software, to determine what software works best for them when they create slideshows.
-
Our standard slideshow length is six minutes, and time allocated is for 10 minutes to include discussion. A slide show can include music and text or not but is not usually narrated by the individual. These are guidelines, and as the club evolves we welcome alternative approaches.
-
The preferred way to bring the slideshow in to show during a meeting is in an "exported" MP4 format, this will ensure the music will be with the slideshow and it will be shown in Quicktime.
There are various software packages to create slideshows — depending upon your goal with your slideshow. A club member may be able to assist you with finding one that suits your needs.
Tips: Our typical slide shows run for approximately 6 minutes with a 6-second duration for each slide, but this is flexible. Any embedded music should be royalty free so it can be shared without copyright strikes.
Theme of the Month
The Theme of the Month allows members to show up to five images to the group each month. The purpose of having a theme for each month is to encourage members to get out and photograph with a specific purpose in mind, so we encourage this as opposed to pulling from our archives. As our core mission is to learn and grow in the art of photography, constructive critique is encouraged, and is the default unless requested otherwise. If shooting specifically for the current theme isn't possible, members can draw from their archives. If they don't have images in their archive to fit the Theme of the Month (TOM) then they may present any three to five images of their choice. Members may also bring printed photos to the meetings for display and discussion.
Past themes have included lines, weather, motion, rule of odds, abstract, still life, portrait, flowers, street scenes, form, and shape among others.
Our Theme of the Month schedule is posted on the Meetings page.

Display Venues
The Sonora Photo Club (SPC) in association with the Mother Lode Art Association (MLAA) has the opportunity to display their photographs in various venues. Currently these include:

-
The Tuolumne County Library on Greenley Road in Sonora offers wall space throughout the library allowing the display of as many as 40 pieces of art work.
-
Another venue is the waiting area of the Anti-Coagulation Unit of Adventist Health Sonora, a private medical facility. Those who spend time in the waiting area enjoy seeing the art work that the SPC and the MLAA display there. Although the wall space is small, the artists may hang about 6-8 medium-sized pieces.
-
Club members may submit work to be displayed (and sold) in the annual Mother Lode Art Association Annual Juried Fine Art Show. Details may be found at mlaa.org/artshow.
