SONORA PHOTO CLUB SPEAKER LARRY ANGIER PRESENTS 
INFORMATION ON CELL PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY

 
(Sonora, CA) – Larry Angier of Image West Photography will present information on how to edit cell phone images using a software program called Snapseed including bringing JPEGS from other sources into the phone for processing and then exporting them back out again, makeing the app much more versatile for broader usage.  The Sonora Photo Club meeting is on Sunday, March 12 at 1:00 P.M. All local photographers are invited to attend the presentation. 

Angier travels rural America and Eastern Europe’s Balkan Region photographing the people, the faith and the cultural landscape. Beginning in his teens, he studied under Al Weber, Ansel Adams, Steve Crouch and other West-Coast masters. At his Jackson, California, studio he electronically crafts his photographs into both fine-art photographs and  canvas decor in his digital print lab. His work spans more than five decades, over two centuries and is based in California’s Heart of the Mother Lode. 
Larry’s editorial photography appears in Jackson’s newspaper Ledger-Dispatch, and RANGE, Photo Technique, and VIA magazines. Sutter Gold Mine, Sutter Health Care, Amador Council of Tourism and Amador County Fair feature his commercial and promotional photography. Recent books showcasing his work include This Land of the Free (2008),  Go West (2012), Eight Centuries of Mileševa Monastery (2013), Cowboys and Critters (2016), The good, the bad, & the bovine (2017), The Magnificent American West(2018), A New Allegory, Serbian Christian Heritage of America, Tales from Out There, and Icons of Jackson’s St. Sava Church (2019),  The Marble Tombs That Rise on High and Humor, Hisotry and Hallucinations of Quinlan and Jones (2020).

His work is in the collections of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, National Steinbeck Center, Salinas, the Museum of Northeastern Nevada in Elko, Nev. the Father Serra Museum in Petra, Mallorca, and the Olympus Camera Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, and the National Ethnographic Museum, Belgrade, Serbia. His Amador County Work is currently on permanent display at the Jackson Rancheria Resort and Casino Hotel, Jackson, Calif., Sutter Hotel, Sutter Creek, and the Amador Commission of Tourism visitor’s center in Ione, Calif. His design using photographs and graphics are on informational displays at the CalTrans SR 49/88 Vista Point in Jackson, Miners’ Bend Park and Knight Foundry, Sutter Creek and both the grounds and museum of the Kenneday Mine and Amador County Museum.
Awards include: California State Fair–Award of Excellence (2012) Amador County Fair–Best of show (2018), Best of Division (2019, 2021); InFocus Photography Competition, Colombia, Calif.–Best of Show (2019), First, Juror’s award (2020), Second and Juror’s Award (2021). In the fall of 2021, Larry was awarded the Grand Prix for his photos of the Hagia Sophia Church of Ohrid, North Makadonia, by the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO), in the category of Ancient Churches of the Hagia Sophia, Wisdom of God in history and in the world.
